Meines erachtens entwickelt sich das Programm in eine total falsche richtung.
Ich kann mir nicht vorstellen, jemals nur daran zu denken, meine finanzdaten auf euren server auszulagern bzw. über irgend eine wolke zu sichern oder
ähnliches unsicheres zu machen. Wer garantiert mir, das eure server nicht gehackt werden? Das hat schon ganz andere kaliber getroffen.
Anfang 2014 hat es bereits umfragen von euch gegeben und erste ankündigungen waren zu lesen das man bereits daran arbeitet, eine sync möglichkeit im eigenen netzwerk mit anderen geräten zu machen.
Was ist denn daraus geworden? Mittlerweile könnte das doch längst erledigt sein, wenn man das wircklich verfolgen würde.
Das programm hat interessante punkte die ich sehr übersichtlich finde aber solange es keine home netz sync version gibt
Werde ich nicht wechseln.

Sie haben vollkommen recht, dass eine Lösung die rein im privaten Netzwerk funktionieren würde, die beste Option wäre. Wir haben diese Option daher sehr gründlich geprüft aber letztlich verworfen. Für die Speicherung im lokalen Netzwerk ist ein NAS Speicher oder Ähliches notwendig. Auch wenn diese Gerät immer weitere Verbreitung finden, verfügt immer noch ein sehr kleiner Teil unserer Nutzer über diese Möglichkeit. Die technische Hürde ist also zu hoch. Der Teil der Nutzer die sich eigens für MoneyControl eine NAS Box anschaffen oder sich mit der Einrichtung der notwendigen Dienste (WebDAV, SQL, etc.) beschäftigen würden, ist sicherlich nicht sehr hoch.
Zudem hat sich gezeigt, dass für einen sehr großen Teil der Nutzer die automatische und schnelle Synchronisation ein sehr wichtiger Faktor ist. Ein Abgleich der nur im eigenen Netzwerk und nicht unterwegs funktioniert kann das nicht leisten.
Eine eigene WebApp Lösung auf unseren eigenen Servern anzubieten hat sich daher als bessere Lösung erwiesen. Damit werden sicherlich nicht alle Nutzer zufrieden sein, aber das ist leider bei jeder Lösung der Fall.
Sie haben vollkommen recht, dass keine 100%ige Sicherheit der Daten gewährleistet werden kann. Wir unternehmen höchste Anstrengungen um die Daten so gut wie möglich zu sichern und zu schützen. Wenn aber der Bundestag gehacked werden kann, können unsere Server dies theoretisch sicherlich auch. Dasselbe gilt aber auch für ihr Handy, die Rechner Ihrer Bank, Ihres Arbeitgebers, Ihrer Krankenkasse, Ihres Artzes, etc. Anders als die Daten auf diesen Systemen, stehen die Daten ihres Haushaltsbuches aber in viel geringerem, persönlichen Zusammenhang zu Ihnen. Die genannten Anbieter „kennen“ sie sehr viel besser als wir dies je könnten (und wollen).
Ein Eintrag „20 Euro für Bücher“ im Haushaltsbuch verrät nicht besonders viel. Ihre Bank hingegen kennt Datum mit Uhrzeit, Ort, Geschäft, Terminal, etc. Sie weiß wann Sie dort zuletzt eingekauft haben und wie oft insgesamt. Payback weiß das alles und zudem natürlich um welches Buch es sich handelt und welches Buch Sie vermutlich als nächstes kaufen werden. Wir verpflichten und dazu die Daten nicht auszuwerten oder weiterzugeben. Ähnliche Punkte suchen Sie in den Bestimmungen der anderen Anbieter sicherlich vergebens.
Natürlich entsteht mit der Nutzung der kommenden WebApp also ein neues „Risiko“. Realistisch betrachtet ändert sich hierdurch aber nichts am Gesamtrisiko, dass man durch die ganze normale Teilnahme am täglichen Leben ohnehin eingeht. Zudem ist die Nutzung natürlich absolut optional. Wer diese Funktion nicht verwenden will, nutzt MoneyControl einfach weiter wie bisher nur auf seinem eigenen Gerät. Durch die Nicht-Benutzung der WebApp entsteht keinerlei Nachteil.
Hi Stefan, are you still supporting MoneyControl? I’d like to know the path where receipt images are stored in the Windows version please. I’m trying to do a manual sync, because the Dropbox sync for images is not working on the iPad version.

I’d also love a report that works like the search, but I work with databases, and know that there is a big difference between a query (like the search) and the formatting required in a report. Still, could this be done? Otherwise, even having totals in the reports would be welcome.
You might want to check the user interface of the iPad version. Version 7.3.1.0 is missing the lighting flash icon to open shortcuts and syncing. I can still tap the same location to get to the functionality, but there’s no icon there anymore. Maybe there are other things I didn’t notice on first usage of this version.

The synchronisation to Dropbox isn’t working properly either. The database is being updated fine, but there are errors when uploading receipt photos. I consistently see this series of messages in the log: „Sync complete“, „File sync complete“, „The connection to Dropbox timed out. Has the internet connection been interrupted?“ and „Error downloading metadata“. This sequence of messages occurred 32 times in the last log. I have exactly the same errors on different wi-fi connections, and have no trouble accessing Dropbox. And as I said, the database is synchronising ok. I’m still using version 7.3.1.0 on the iPad.
The synchronisation of receipts is still not working. I’m getting worried about all the data that isn’t being synchonised. Is there any manual way to get the data from my iPad to the Windows version? It has been a month, and there’s no response on this issue.

the Mac-Version of Money-Control does not support the short-cut to paste something into a text field.
As a workaround I have to right-click and select „Einfügen“ or paste.
Would be nice if you can fix it so that actually cmd-c + cmd-v is enabled.

you have to distinguish between the recurring template and the recurring entries that created from this template. The recurring template specifies the entry details (what to create) and the recurring details (when to create). At the start of every new month, all recurring entries in this month are created from the corresponding recurring templates.
Assume you have create a recurring template „$500 Rent on the 1st of every month, starting January 2015“. Until now this would have created the entries in January, Febrary, … and July. The entry for August will be created on August 1st. When you edit the recurring templates this will have no effect on the already existing entries but only on the entries that will be created in the future. So changing the template to $600 will effect entries in August, Semptember, etc.
Deleting the templates will have no effect on the existing entries. The entries have to be deleted manually.
Unlock cost for pc on win 8, phone on Android and iOS on iPad gives you 30€ and not 2€ as mentioned above… So its a very expensive app. The unlock certificate could easily be stored on the dropbox, the explanation above does not really make much sense, seen that the purchase is made in the app and not in the stores anyway.

MoneyControl for Windows offers three different IAPs for 7 EUR in total. All IAPs in MoneyControl for iOS can be purchases for 5 EUR (All in one Bundle). One purchase can be used on iPhone and iPad. So using MoneyControl without any limitation on your three devices would cost 12 EUR, not 30. Considering that MoneyControl was specifically designed for each platform and not just copied from one system to the other this quite fair, isn’t it?
Unlocking an IAP on iOS, using another method than the App Store is explicitly forbidden by Apple. The same is true for other platforms. So using some kind of unlocking file is not possible.
Have you ever bought a movie on DVD that you saw in cinema before? I am quite sure you had to pay for the DVD, even though you payed for the exact same movie in cinema before. Why did you do that? It was the exact same movie and all they had to do, was to to copy it on a DVD. MoneyControl on the other hand was completely re-developed for each platform. Compared to the movie that would mean, that the it was shot twice. Once for cinema and once – using new sets, actors, crew, cutter, etc – for DVD. Was it a bothering to pay for the DVD? Why is it a problem to pay twice for MoneyControl?

the app is localized to both Spanish and French. The language the app uses is automatically determined by the systems default language. You would have to change this from French to Spanish to change the app language.

We would really love to make one app available across all platform but this is simply not possible. First of all the different App Stores have not connection between each other. Thus the app download from Store A has not way to figure out if the app was previously downloaded from Store B. We do not get any information about the customers from the App Stores but just raw sales numbers.

While the reason for these is quite obvious when looking at App Stores from different publishers (why should Apple allow a free download just because Google earned some money when the app was download from the Play Store before?) it is quite surprising that not even the iOS and the Mac App store have any connection.

what exactly do you mean with „different memberships“? You can use Dropbox to sync the app data accross different devices. Devices that have been synced will use exactly the same data.

Im planning on buying the app for family. Is it possible to sync only one account? Meaning I have my personal accounts and my wife has her personal accounts, and we have a shared account for household, food etc.
Been looking for ages an app that would let me track expenses on both my personal accounts and a joint account.
Can we have a „Shared“ account and keep it synced that for two devices?
If my wife goes and buys groceries for 20€, I would like to see it on my device and vice versa, but I don’t want to sync all my personal accounts to her device.

currently the sync option is „All or Nothing“. Thus it is not possible to sync only the data of one account and leave other data unchanged. However this would be an interesting feature and we will check how to implement this.

I’m using the iPhone/iPad app for several months but I have few issues/requests:
1. While in current month screen the Expenses amount seems to be equals to non-recurring expenses and it doesn’t contain the recurring expenses. Can you please confirm?
I’ve setup several recurring expenses within app but I would like to see in my current month all Expenses amount (recurring and non-recurring).
It’s important for me (and maybe other users) to know how much I’ve spent in current month.
A possible solution is to add a check-box somewhere in Extras screen for that.
2. While clicking on Budget button a new window appears and I’ve there Fixed(recurring) Expenses, so…now I must add myself this amount with the one from previous screen.
Again, this is not OK as I bought the app in order to do the calculations instead of me to do that. I would prefer to have both type of expenses summed or some options in Extras/Settings screen for what to show.
3. Same type of issue while going to previous months using Entries screen – for each I see an Expenses info but…I guess that these are the non recurring ones, right?
Again, while navigating to previous months I prefer to see total of Expenses.
Let me know how is possible to have these issues implemented.

I’m using MoneyControl on my iPad and on my iPhone. The data is not being sychronized via Dropbox in the right way since the budget is lower on the iPhone than on the iPad. I created some „regular entries“ on the iPhone version, and it seems that it is still counting them although I have deleted them and I don’t have access anymore to update them or modify them. What can I do?

the features have to be purchased for all plattforms separatly. This is not a limitation of MoneyControl but just the way the App Stores work. You will be able to create more than 20 entries per month on your phone. But when these entries are synced to your Mac, only the first 20 will be shown.
I have downloaded your app on to my iPad and linked it to Dropbox but get a message that Dropbox cannot open ‚this type of file‘. The whole idea was that I could view and print from Dropbox on my Mac. Help please.

do not access the sync file that is stored in your Dropbox directly. The file is ment to be used only by the app. Connect the app on two or more devices with the same Dropbox account and they will be able to share theire data using the sync file.

it is possible that the file was currupted while being uploaded to the Dropbox. Simply access your Dropbox account directly (e.g. using the Dropbox app or using the Dropbox webpage) and delete the sync file within the app folder. This will not effect the data stored on your devices. Re-run the sync. Does the problem still occur?

MoneyControl was not designed to operate as client/server model. But it would be no problem to run the app on the devices of your colleagues (iOS, Mac, Android, Windows Phone or Windows) and use it to enter their expenses. Using the Drobox sync the app is able to collect all this data in one data set and you could see the expenses of all colleagues on your device.

Please also take in account another bug: in the Accounts screen there is a new entry on top: and the value is 0.00 EUR – which make no sense – if I had some expenses could be fine to show this entry – otherwise is useless.

I just updated last night to MoneyControl (ios 8) and the ‚New expense‘ and ‚New income ‚ screen seems to show currency = EUR no mater what is my current currency (other than EUR).

this is just a displaying inssue. While the wrong text is shown the app internaly uses the correct corrency. Thus the app function is affected. We will fix this as soon as possible.

Your Windows 8 version looks too similar to the windows phone version. I’m being asked to purchase the Windows 8 premium version even though I paid for the windows phone version already. I would pay again only if you have OneDrive sync, so I can sync between the desktop and phone version, and if the desktop version supported a UI that does not resemble a phone.

the Windows and Windows Phone versions are two different apps that have been independently developed. Transfering the purchases from Windows Phone to Windows or vice versa is thus not possible. OneDrive sync is currently not supported since OneDrive does not offer the same possibilities as Dropbox. While OneDrive is „just“ an online storage Dropbox offers additional options to keep information about different file version. These information is necessary to run a sync.

in Windows 8.1. you can enter the apps settings over the systems settings charm. On a touch device simple swipe from the right edge to the center to show the settings charm. If you use a mouse, move the cursor to the bottom right and than back to the middle to do the same.

I want to apologize for the trouble. The issue with reports is a known problem. We already submitted an update to Apple that prevents the bug the new system. Currently the app is waiting for review and approval by Apple. Unfortunately this can take up to two weeks and we can do nothing to speed up this process. Thank you very much for your patience.

Without iCloud Drive Sync i don’t purchase for that app.
After a little research i found out that apple offers app syncing with CloudKit AND Family Share over ICloud Drive.
Please use CloudKit.
I would love to use this app with ICloud Drive Syncing and looking for future releases.

What you found out is correct. Unfortunately iCloud Drive is only supported in iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite. Thus supporting iCloud Drive locks out all user who still use OS X 10.9 or below and iOS 7 or earlier. It does not make a lot of sense to support a Cloud service only a few users can use. As soon as iCloud Drive is evolved to the standard Cloud service for all iOS and OS X plattforms we will support it. Right now Dropbox is really the better solution. Additionally we are working on a „priavate Cloud“, meaning personal network- or online storage that can be used to sync data.
Unfortunately the decimal problem when exporting csv was not solved in ios 8.1. Let’s hope it works after the next MC update (when ist it due?)
It seems the imac version have problem with the new operating system YOSEMITE. trying to function settings, and I can not go back to the home screen or change the settings for dropbox. Thank you in advance

This is a known bug in Yosemite. We informed informed Apple about almost two month ago but did not get any feedback. We hoped that Apple would solve the problem during the beta but obviously that was not the case.
We submitted an update of MoneyControl that avoids the bug two weeks ago but the app is still waiting for review.
All we can do is to hope that Apple will review the update soon. I apologize for the trouble this might make but unfortunately there is nothing that we could do to speed up the process.

iCloud has alway been a little bit tricky and unfortunately not as reliable and stable as Apple promised. iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite now introduced iCloud Drive. Unlinke iCloud the new iCloud Drive is not available on all iOS and OS X devices. There are various limitations, so that devices can be used only in certain combinations:
iCloud can only be used between devices with the same iCloud account. On the other hande each device can only be connected to one iCloud account at a time. Thus the sync between family members is not possible, if they use different iCloud accounts (their own calendar, notes, contacts, etc.)
The classic iCloud and the new iCloud Drive can not be used in parallel. A device can either connect to an iCloud account or to an iCloud Drive account
If one devices uses iCloud and another one uses iCloud Drive, it is not possible to sync the two device.
iCloud Drive can only be used with iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite. Thus older devices cannot use the same cloud as current systems.
An iCloud account cannot be uses as iCloud Drive account. Once an iCloud account was converted to an iCloud Drive account it is not possibel to switch back.
Unlike the classic iCloud the new iCloud Drive can no longer be used accross all iOS and OS X devices. At the same time an app can not support iCloud and iCloud Drive in parallel. It can only choose to support either iCloud or iCloud Drive. In both cases there will be alot of users that cannot use the selected solution.
On the other hand the app already supports Dropbox to exchange between all kind of devices and platforms. Dropbox has proven to be very stable and reliable. Dropbox is widely used, can be set up quickly and is free of charge.
Because of the current limitations the app will no longer support iCloud and offers Dropbox as alternative. Once iCloud Drive will support the majority of iOS and Mac OS devices (as iCloud did before) MoneyControl will of course use this service again.

Since a couple of weeks, the CSV export function is broken: numbers get rounded and the export is confused with thousand separator / decimals. Please fix this urgently.

thank you very much for your message. This is a bug in iOS 8. We already informed Apple and filed bug report but did not get any feedback yet. We hope that this will be solved in the up coming iOS 8.1. Otherwise we will try to find a solution to avoid this bug in the next version of MoneyControl.

this problem is cause by a new feature of iOS 8. iOS 8 now supports multiple languages at once. Go to the system settings and add English as secondary display language. The default language will stay the same but the system will now use English if no supported version is available (as in MoneyControl).
